Police rescue unconscious man from fiery crash near USF
Hillsborough firefighters say a Temple Terrace police officer rescued an unconscious man from a fiery crash in a neighborhood just north of the University of South Florida this morning. Rescue units responded to the single-vehicle accident near 127th Avenue and 58th Street around 5 a.m., after receiving a report that a vehicle had hit a tree and gone up in flames, trapping the driver, firefighters said. The police officer was first on the scene and found the driver trapped and unconscious in the burning car. Firefighters said the officer cut through the driverís seat belt and quickly removed him from the car, saving his life. The lone passenger in the car was able to get out of the car on their own.Hillsborough County Fire Rescue units arrived shortly afterward to extinguish the fire and transport both the driver and passenger to the hospital, firefighters said. No details were given about what may have caused the crash.
