Tampa area residents have always loved their cars, as evidenced by the 1927 “then” photo of the Tampa Automobile Association’s Auto Show held at the old Coliseum on Davis Islands.
The Coliseum, built in 1925, played host to numerous events, including auto shows, concerts, conventions and even ice skating. It was destroyed by a fire in 1967.
In the “now” photo, attendees of last year’s Tampa Bay International Auto Show at the Tampa Convention Center check out a 2013 Cadillac CTX. This year’s 2014-model show, presented by the Greater Tampa Bay Automobile Dealers Association, opens Friday and continues through Nov. 24 at the Tampa Convention Center, 333 S. Franklin St.
