BRANDON — The Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce wants to reward and challenge local business leaders through its Small Business of the Year awards and Leadership Brandon.
Small Business of the Year
The Brandon Chamber will accept, through 5 p.m. Monday, nominations for area small businesses that excelled this year in leadership, growth and development, creativity, integrity, and commitment to community service.
The five award categories are Home-Based Business, Certified Minority or Women-Owned Business, 1-5 Employees, 6-15 Employees and 16-Plus Employees. Judges will be members of SCORE Chapter 203, the Service Corps of Retired Executives.
Finalists will be notified in September and recognized Oct. 23 at the 2014 Small Business of the Year Awards ceremony.
Nominations may be submitted anonymously, by the business itself, or by anyone in the community. Forms are online at www.brandonchamber.com/events/small-business-of-the-year.html. Submission details are on the form.
Call Suzanne Dowdy, member programming director at (813) 689-1221, for more information.
Nomination forms for the 2015 Leadership Brandon class, details about the program and a list of mandatory meetings are available at www.brandon chamber.com, under the heading “Get Involved.”
Leadership Brandon participants learn about the Brandon area through nine months of seminars, tours and interactive presentations, while the chamber identifies, supports and develops these leaders of diverse backgrounds. The process opens dialogue about challenges and prospects facing the community. Individuals may nominate themselves or be nominated by businesses, organizations or others through 5 p.m. July 11. Community and business leaders and alumni of Leadership Brandon will choose the class members; acceptance into the program is not guaranteed. Scholarships are available.
