Some teens would consider themselves fortunate just to have a date for their high school prom. Others might be lucky enough to muster the courage to ask one of the “popular” kids in school.
Jake Davidson? He's going straight for arguably the world's most popular supermodel, and she has yet to decline his invitation.
Davidson, a senior from Los Angeles, asked two-time Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover model Kate Upton to his May 23 prom in an elaborate, amusing YouTube video.
The feature shows Davidson preparing to pop the question while hanging out by his pool, shaving, taking a shower and even doing pushups to show he – like Upton – likes sports.
He even spelled out their differences, pointing out that he's Jewish and short (“5-foot-9 on a really good day”), while she's “Christian, 5-foot-10.”
After asking Upton if he could have permission to call her Katie, he said she had “a chance to make a nice guy's senior year the best ever.”
“I don't have a girlfriend, and with prom season rolling around, this would be problematic for some,” Davidson said. “But not me. I'm Optimus Prime. I see the glass half-full.”
And with that, he got down on one knee, with roses in hand and L.A. as a backdrop, to say: “So Kate, will you go to prom with me?”
Upton's response on Twitter: “You can call me Katie if you want! How could I turn down that video! I'll check my schedule ;)”
Davidson made perhaps the biggest move of his life. The next is Upton's.
