Rain gone, but chilly temperatures return around Tampa area

A cold front has passed through the Tampa Bay area, leaving clearing skies and chilly temperatures before a weekend warm-up with increased rain chances.
Drier air is spreading to the south, creating the winter-like conditions with sunny skies and breezy northerly winds, News Channel 8 meteorologist Leigh Spann said.
Today’s high will top out in the upper-60s – about 10 degrees below average – with lows falling quickly to the low- to mid-40s near Tampa and the mid-30s in northern areas.
Friday’s high will reach the mid- to upper-70s as winds shift back from the south, and weekend highs will approach 80 as a front brings a chance of scattered storms before another cool-down to start the work week.
